In 2005, the Lord led Pastor Brian Magaw and his family to start Cornerstone Baptist Church.  We had our first Bible study on Thursday evening, September 1st, 2005 at Clarendon Hall School in Summerton, SC.  The following Sunday, September 4th, 2005, we had our first Worship Service in the home of Mr. Gary Berry, at Potato Creek, Summerton, SC.  We officially constituted the church in October of 2005.  Since then the Lord has blessed the church tremendously and has opened the door for the church to be centrally located in Paxville, SC, which is a hub for four communities: Summerton, Manning, Pinewood, and South Sumter, SC.  In December 2006, the Lord allowed the church to purchase 3.3 acres on Corbett Road in Paxville.  In February 2007, the church conducted its groundbreaking ceremony under tent with tarps shielding the icy winds of Winter!  Long time friend and former Bible College Professor Pastor Bo Wagner of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Mooresboro, NC preached the message.  On October 3rd, 2007, we were blessed to conduct our first service in the new building that the Lord has provided for us.  On October 6th, 2007, we dedicated the building to the Lord, with Pastor Larry Hummel of Open Bible Baptist Church in Sumter, SC preaching the message of dedication.  The church has already seen souls saved and added to the church for His Honor and Glory.  We thank the Lord for his mercy, grace and blessings toward us and we are prayerfully looking forward to what He has in store for His church.
Cornerstone Baptist Church
Concise Doctrinal Statement
We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Word of God, and the KJV 1611 King James Bible to be the preserved Word of God in the English language.  We believe that is it is the final authority for all matters of faith and practice, (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21, Psalm 12:6-7) We believe that there is only one true and living God.  We believe He is eternal, infinite, and a sovereign Spirit externally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  We believe that Satan is a personality and is the open and declared enemy of God and man.  We believe the local church is a called out body of scripturally baptized believers organized to study God's Word, evangelize, to aid in sending the Gospel around the world through missionary endeavors, and to fellowship.  The church's main goals are to win the lost, baptize new believers, and to teach and train believers according to the Bible, (Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:45-48, John 21:15-17). We believe the Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the only two Biblical ordinances of the church.  Baptism is only to be by immersion.  We believe that God has only ordained two offices for the local church: Pastors and Deacons, (I Timothy 3:1-15). We believe that at the moment of salvation the believer is sealed and indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and that nothing can separate the believer from God, though fellowship can be interrupted, (I Corinthians 1:22, Ephesians 1:13, 4:30). We believe in the pre-tribulational rapture of the church and that the Lord Jesus Christ will return to this earth to set up His millennial reign at the close of the seven years of tribulation, (II Thessalonians 2:1-12, Revelation 20:1-5).
